VIP-Global Breast Cancer Foundation and MD Anderson Cancer Center presents 'Dress for Success for Breast Friends'
February 13, 2019: The Woodlands, TX. – On Thursday, February 13, 2019, MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER hosted the VIP Cancer Foundation and VIP-Global's annual their Dress for Success Event, at MD Anderson (Woodlands) at St. Luke's Hospital. This annual event is possible because of the good hearts of VIP-Global's employees, customers and friends. It helps support and strengthen women who are currently fighting or have survived their battles with breast cancer. Besides the annual celebration, the VIP Cancer Foundation helps patients by providing Cancer Angels' support, coaching for patients during their treatment, or with financial assistance to cover medical bills.
Over 150 "Breast Friends" from the MD Anderson Cancer Center were in attendance, including volunteers. Dr. Pamela Schlembach began the evening with encouraging words, telling the audience about the program and how it started, in 2011. Many prizes and donations were given to the attendees and much attention was given to the cancer patients. The theme of the night was dedicated to the 5 Love Languages, all expressed to them by single acts of kindness. Starting with:
1) Words of affirmation – using positive words to build up each patient.
2) Gifts – a gift says, "Someone was thinking about me."- Many gifts were given.
3) Acts of Service – Fingernail painting, massages, facials, etc.
4) Quality time – Coaches discussing individual cases with undivided attention or even discussing cases as a group.
5) Physical touch – holding hands, hugging, kissing, and many other expressions of love.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity my mom and I had to participate in this event. 'The VIP Dress for Success' was more than a volunteering experience. Expecting to meet women going through the most difficult time of their lives, I was surprised by the energy these warriors have. All of them had a big smile and shinning eyes full of gratefulness and hope. Instead of doing something for them, I felt they were doing something for me and my mom. We learned to appreciate life and to thank God for all the good and bad things, because they are the ones that make us who we are. That night, I went home full of hope and satisfaction. Thanks for the opportunity and the blessings."
