SONIA CLAYTON, RECIVES THE WOMAN OF DISTINCTION AWARD

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce(TAMACC) honored today, 12 outstanding Latina business and community leaders at the fourth annual Women of Distinction Awards luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel at 98 San Jacinto Boulevard, in Austin, Texas.

Among many remarks, the audience was made aware of how the impact of influential Hispanic Women in business and in leadership roles across the country continues to improve the economic landscape of our nation.

TAMACC recognizes the impact Hispanic Women are making especially in business. According to the American Express OPEN as of March 2014, there are an estimated 1,033,100 Hispanic women-owned businesses in the United States. These Latina-Owned firms employ 433,600 workers in addition to the owner and generate an estimated $7.1 billion in revenue to the United States Economy.

Today, TAMACC the Leading Hispanic Business Organization of Texas, celebrated its 40th Anniversary. Mrs. Sonia Clayton, president & CEO of Virtual Intelligence Providers, LLC (VIP), among others, was named a “Woman of Distinction” in a marvelous event with over 200 attendees to include important political personalities, at the at the Four Seasons Hotel.

During her remarks Sonia talked about the difficulties of creating, growing and maintaining a business. Concluding her talk with the words of William Shakespeare: “To be, or not to be..." an opening phrase of the monolog in the "Nunnery Scene" of Hamlet. In the speech, a despondent Prince Hamlet contemplates death and suicide when he laments the pains and unfairness of life but acknowledges the alternative might be still worse. Sonia encouraged all “to-be” the captains of their own ships, to fight with unwavering courage, to give generously and to care much about others. Sharing her personal story of faith, perseverance and success starting with her childhood in Colombia and

Venezuela to her immigrant experiences in USA; including her dreams and disappointments and her accomplishment of the “American Dream.”
