Grady McAllister

Grady McAllister has worked in mass communications, as well as training & education. His career began with broadcast news in Houston and Bay City, Texas. That included a weekend talk program at KIKK, AM & FM, then the number one station for metropolitan Houston.

He entered training & development as a writer of technical materials for the Du Pont plant in La Porte, Texas. Most of the projects involved the documentation of a product manufacturing process. After developing his first training module, the project director stated that Grady was “one of the best two” of the five writers on the staff.

Working at the Texas Medical Center and 300 miles from his boss in Denton, he managed audio-visual services, 700 multi-media training modules, and a high-traffic learning resource center. He developed the first formal training for a high-turnover, part-time staff, cutting training time from a matter of weeks to a matter of hours.

Grady participated in organizational development for BP-Amoco. He prepared training modules for converting traditional work groups into self-directed work teams.

Recent work includes the development of six safety training modules for an oil field services company. Equally at home as a writer and as a presenter, Grady conducts classes for the Pearland Independent School District.

Grady McAllister completed a B.A. in Communications and a M.S. in Training & Occupational Education, both from the University of Houston. Originally from Alabama, Grady has lived in the Houston area nearly all his life.
